We are proud to announce the release on the One World label this month of the stunning 1 Giant Leap album ‘What About Me?’
Following on from the huge success of the recently released DVD, comes the much requested and sought-after music from the project.

The creative forces behind 1 Giant Leap’ are Jamie Catto and Duncan Bridgeman, who had return with their much anticipated follow up release, ’What About Me’.

As a founding member of famed British dance act Faithless, Jamie Catto has produced numerous top ten hits worldwide, with two albums achieving gold status in the UK alone. His ‘1 Giant Leap’ counter-part Duncan Bridgeman, achieved a number one dance hit as a member of groundbreaking soul band ‘I Level’ in the early 80’s, and continued on to become a successful producer and remixer, working with Duran Duran, The Eurythmics, Shakespeare's Sister and Paul McCartney.

The backbone of the ‘1 Giant Leap’ project, is formed by each master-piece beginning with a pre-composed backing track which then grows and develops as new layers are added. Rather than gathering samples and taking them back to a studio, collaborators were able to hear the contribution from previous collaborators resulting in a unique organic creative process.

Bridgeman explains, “We have 15 pieces of music we travel with. What we do is give them our beat, or a piece of our music, something that will inspire them. They all have radio headphones; so they’re listening to our music. Then they add their music and sing their song. This is from every country across the world, each person hearing in the headphones what the last person did.”

“Every country across the world” equates to over 50 locations visited worldwide in the production of ‘What about Me’. Some of the collaborators who “add their music and sing their song” include KD Lang, Michael Stipe, Alanis Morrisette, Michael Franti, Carlos Santana, Stewart Copeland, Maxi Jazz, and Baba Maal alongside African tribal and Bedouin musicians, Chinese rappers, Gabonese Pygmies and Tuvan throat singers masterfully crafted into a truly unique musical experience.

4-years, 5 continents and 50 countries in the making, ‘1 Giant Leap-What About Me?’ sets out to capture the immense cultural diversity of the world we live in, in this time capsule of humanity at its most inspirational. ‘1 Giant Leap – What About me?’ is a unique, inspired and inspiring musical journey that will defy any pre-conceptions that you should have left behind before you pressed play...

Great musical idea....but.. I wish I could get the music WITHOUT the interviews. I could listen to the music over and over, but the interviews get in the way after the first couple of times...

I was introduced to 1 Giant Leap by my son and have the first album. I was drawn to What About Me by a chance comment on Will Young's website by Ron Hudson many moons ago. I loved the snippet of his track back then but the full track more than fulfills the promise. Great music from great people all around the world - it works so well - real proper music - bliss. Buy this - it was so worth the wait.

Abolutely adore this album. It's been worth the wait.. Tracks of special note are The Truth is Changing, Wounded in All The Right Places and Come to the Edge. Although they are all fabulous tracks those three are standouts. Well done to all involved.

I have been waiting for ages to hear this album but it was well worth the wait. I think it is even better than the first album and it deserves publicity - I hope it is released in the UK. My favourite track is 'The Truth is Changing', which really takes some beating. Elly (UK)31.3.90

Who said they couldn't top the first release! This is equally as good if not better: entertaining, emotional. Pure class.

The first CD by 1 Giant Leap was great, but this one is incredible! What About Me? is the epitome of high quality sound and musical variety. It's hard to pick a favourite song, there are so many, but if I had too I would say - 'Each Step Moves Us On' and 'Solita Sin Solidad'. I highly recommend this album to everyone!

OMG! I have been waiting for this album ever since the doco came out. This is what I call TRUE world music - though my favourite song is by Wounded in all the right places by k.d land. If you haven't heard it or watched it yet, you don't know what you're missing!
